In 1991, Jacksonville was facing a major “garbage crisis” and desperately needed a company to create and operate a waste disposal facility because the city was quickly running out of room for disposal in its own landfills.

After a thorough bidding process, Jacksonville chose Waste Management (WM) as its partner for this crucial task.  WM’s bid ranked #1 for value, qualifications, and services and the bid of the next closest competitor was two-and-a-half times more expensive than WM’s bid.

It’s a decision the City of Jacksonville and its people have never had to regret. That’s because when it comes to managing waste, we are second to none – especially in Jacksonville.

WM invested time, resources, and vast experience in Trail Ridge to help the city solve its mounting garbage crisis, on time and on-budget. WM has lived up to its promises and has saved the people of Jacksonville more than $160 million dollars so far.
